Villanova announced on Saturday that it was parting ways with head men’s basketball coach Kyle Neptune after three seasons at the helm. Neptune went 54-47 overall and 31-29 in Big East play and failed to reach the NCAA Tournament.

“Since coming to Villanova, I have been struck by Kyle’s tireless work ethic and his dedication to the student-athletes he served,” said VP/AD Eric Roedl. “We are grateful to Kyle for his long service to Villanova and his mentorship to the many outstanding young men he has coached.”

Neptune’s hiring in 2022 received mixed reviews, as the Brooklyn-native had significant experience with the program but had only been a head coach for one year (at Fordham). He was part of the Wildcats’ 2016 and 2018 National Championships and had spent a total of 10 seasons on staff under Hall of Famer Jay Wright, starting out as the video coordinator in 2008.

The Wildcats have accepted an invite to the inaugural College Basketball Crown event in Vegas next month, with assistant Mike Nardi serving as interim head coach for those games.
