The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) has awarded ACC Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year honors every season since 1953-54. The coach to win the award the most times is Dean Smith, with eight total awards all at UNC. North Carolina is also the program with the most awards (thirteen), followed by Duke (eleven), NC State (nine), Virginia and Wake Forest (eight each).
